Must ... Read ... More

Salutations!
One of the books I bought and have as yet to read is the one pictured here. Promise of the Witch-King is the second book of the Sellswords Trilogy and I purchased it for $2.40. The original price for this hardcover is $27.95 and Barnes and Nobles gave me a great deal. The first book of this trilogy is available as part of the Paths of Darkness Collector's Edition.
I plan on skipping this book from the volume until I finish the Legend of Drizzt series and then read the Sellswords afterwards.
I do not know if I should read Sellswords or the Hunter's Blades Trilogy first. I will think about this hurdle when the time comes and most likely rely on copyright dates unless an authority lets me know a better order. I know I said copyright dates can be faulty. Robert Jordan, Terry Brooks, and George Lucas are included among authors who made a prequel after having an audience.
I noticed today the bookstore link doesn't have some current items. I own a Hunter's Blades Trilogy Gift Set. I will not be posting for a while because I am moving into a new house with my parents this week. I will post again when things settle down.

Text Galore

Good afternoon!
In addition to reading for fun I have to read for school. The textbook is about four chapters a week this semester. Summer term is compressed so I must spend more time reading for school. I would like to read more and have many books on my list. Some people may say I should read the Warhammer, Warhammer 40K, Drizzt, and Cleric Quintet all at the same time. I rather finish one book before picking up another. I remember one semester of college the professor had assigned six books for one class.
I noticed the Cleric Quintet was published before Paths of Darkness. I read the first book of Paths and set it down to go back and read the Quintet. R.A. Salvatore has used the main character from the Quintet, Cadderly, in the Legend of Drizzt series. I want to get more background before reading more Drizzt and try to read semi-chronologically. The Quintet is about a priest who is agnostic but of a faith that encourages questioning. Cadderly develops his faith and becomes a powerful cleric.
The books I am reading are from Dan Abnett, William King, and R.A. Salvatore. This is in addition to my monthly comic books of Superman & Batman, World of Warcraft, Batman, Detective Comics, Robin, Nightwing, and Green Lantern. I am patiently awaiting the day I graduate from college and can dedicate spare time to reading for fun and not for school.

Sony PSP

Hi!
After I read The Icewind Dale Trilogy I started The Legacy. I know if I bought a Sony PSP I would read less, thus I made a goal to finish ten books before buying it. I started my first semester at Florida International University in January 2008. I was still reading The Legacy of the Drow Collector's Edition during the first couple of weeks of class. Reading for pleasure interfered with reading for school so I dedicated more time to finishing the The Legacy of the Drow Collector's Edition. The sooner I finished the four book volume the sooner I can read for school and buy the PSP.

It took from October 31, 2007 until January 20, 2008 to finish the first ten books of the Legend of Drizzt series. Eleven weeks of non-stop reading. I have never done this before. I would read at most six books and then take a long break from reading. The Spelljammer Cycle was the last time I was caught up in the excitement. R.A. Salvatore kept me wanting more through the first ten books and beyond. In December I bought the next Collector's Edition in the set. It also contains four books. I want to purchase the graphic novels but will hold off until I finish reading the Drizzt series.

I decided not to buy the PSP until spring break because I needed to study more. I also set Drizzt aside until I did more studying. I could not resist the urge and started reading Paths of Darkness Collector's Edition in late February. Dates of release can be obtained from going to a bookstore and looking at the individual books.

Beautiful Wife

Greetings!
My wife bought me Legacy of the Drow Collector's Edition in November of 2007. The volume she purchased has a first printing in January of 2003 to Wizards of the Coast, Inc. The cover art is by Brom. The longest books I have read are from the Shannara series from Terry Brooks. Legacy of the Drow has 1077 pages; I've never read a book with more than 900 pages. This volume includes four books.

The Legacy
was published in 1992
Starless Night in 1993
Siege of Darkness in 1994 and
Passage to Dawn was published in 1996.

Before I could read the above books I had to read the Icewind Dale Trilogy. I was wondering for a many years the order I should read R.A. Salvatore's works. Chronologically he wrote the Icewind Dale Trilogy before The Dark Elf Trilogy but the Legend of Drizzt time line asked me to read Homeland first. I met R.A. Salvatore at the San Diego International Comic-Con but I neglected to ask the question about reading order. He was promoting the graphic novels and The Demon Wars Series.

The copy I have of The Crystal Shard has a cover price of $4.95 U.S. and is from 1992 and is 16 years old. The cover is drawn by Larry Elmore. My copy of Homeland is from 1993 and is 15 years old. After reading Homeland I purchased Exile and Sojourn the first week of November 2007. The copy of Streams of Silver I have is from Wizards of the Coast and the first printing is from May 2007. The hardcover first printing is from July 2005 and from TSR it was available first in January 1989. The copy I have of The Halfling's Gem has a first printing of August 2007 and was first available in January of 1990. The covers of Book V and VI are by Todd Lockwood.

Here is a link to available gift sets and a partial list to R.A. Salvatore works.

Finished First

Howdy!
Yesterday I finished reading my first Gotrek & Felix novel. Trollslayer is written by William King and the setting is the Old World in the Warhammer universe. The cover art is by John Gravato. I am taking a break from reading books set in the Forgotten Realms Universe of Dungeons & Dragons.

In the first week of November 2007 I started reading my copy of Homeland by R.A. Salvatore. I've had this book for over nine years, maybe even 13 years. The cover shows $4.95 U.S. and the art drawn by Jeff Easley. I only started reading it now because there are things on a list I want to accomplish before I die. Reading many books is an activity on the list.

Homeland is the first book of the Dark Elf Trilogy and it is written after the Icewind Dale Trilogy. I don't remember having TSR copies of Exile and Sojourn, the second and third books respectively. I bought the copies available by Wizards of the Coast and the cover art by Todd Lockwood. Luckily, the new books have a checklist and provide an order for reading The Legend Of Drizzt stories.

Homeland has a first printing of August 1990
Exile in December 1990; First hardcover printing in June 2004; The edition I have has a first printing in March 2006 but I did not purchase it until November of 2007
Sojourn in May 1991; First hardcover printing in December 2004; The edition I have has a first printing in June 2006 but I did not purchase it until November of 2007

Now the books can be purchased as a single hardcover volume or all three together in a collector's set. I am sure other options exist. The graphic novel gives visuals for the content in the books. Tomorrow I will write about the next trilogy in the sequence and include pictures.
